We’re updating our Buyer Terms and Privacy Notice
At Paddle, we’re always working to make our services more transparent and easier to navigate. To stay in line with regulations and to be clearer about how we work with you, we are updating our Buyer Terms and our Privacy Notice.
These changes will take effect on March 31, 2026.

What’s changing in the Buyer Terms?
- It now covers both Paddle Checkout and Paddle Invoicing, and we have refreshed key definitions to make the document easier to follow.
- We have clarified which Paddle entity you’re contracting with, depending on your location. Canada-based Buyers are now contracting with Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd.
- We have added clearer terms and in certain cases better protections for buyers on cancellation routes, intellectual property, confidentiality, payments obligations, changes to terms and acceptable use of the service.
- We have separated our Refund Policy into its own standalone policy and updated the Buyer Terms to refer to it for details of refunds and (if applicable to you) withdrawal rights.
- We have clarified our approach to subscriptions, including renewals, recurring charges, reminders and consent where required by law. We have also clarified our approach to chargebacks, including how suspected fraud or abuse may affect access to a product during and after investigation.
- We have updated the section on our responsibility for loss or damage, including clarifying where liability is not limited (for example where it would be unlawful) and setting out clearer limits and exclusions that apply, subject to mandatory law.
- We have updated and expanded country-specific terms for US, EU/EEA and Canada Buyers.
What’s changing in the Privacy Notice?
- We have simplified and streamlined the notice to make it easier to understand, including consolidating and reordering sections.
- We have provided a clearer explanation of why we process personal data and the legal bases we rely on, including a more explicit note that legal bases can vary by jurisdiction.
- We have updated and clarified the categories of personal data we may process, as well as how we share personal data with third parties, with a more focused list of recipients and purposes.
- We have updated the sections on international data transfers and the safeguards we use, and we have added clearer language that transfers may be subject to foreign laws (including potential disclosure to authorities).
- We have refreshed the section on data retention to better reflect how long we keep data.
- We have clarified our use of Cookies, in accordance with law.
- We have included some country-specific terms, including for the US, EEA and Canada.
